The 2009 Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade Will Be Live On Tweeter

Hyun-Jung Jang, a Korean journalist student visiting Seattle, talks with Josh Brown, sturgeon surgeon general, on an art car at the 2007 Fremont Fair.

I will be live voice tweeting and video blogging from the The Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade this weekend.

If you like to meet, I will be at the Tweet-up and Flickr photographers meet-up at Hales Ales on Saturday from 5-7pm.

If you shoot video of the two day event and post them on YouTube, please add "fremont fair" to your tag list.

To follow the activities on twitter, the event hash tag is: #fremontfair
(what is a hashtag? watch this short video.)

Fremont Fair: Interview with Adina Johnson, 2008 Fair Producer

powered by ODEO

For 37 years, the Fremont Fair has been a grass-roots community celebration. 35 years ago Solid Ground took over stewardship of the fair. Solid Ground's mission is to achieve a just and caring community free from poverty, prejudice and neglect. In 2005, Solid Ground sub-contracted the management of the Fair to The Workshop, a Seattle based event company.

In the above podcast, I talk with Adina Johnson, the Fremont Fair producer, about the various activities and showcases during the upcoming free spirited weekend event.

Dancers mass for navel maneuvers

By D. PARVAZ
P-I REPORTER

The belly is an amazingly communicative body part.

Etched with a six-pack, it embodies strength. In women, it's an unrelenting icon of fertility.

It's also the focal point of the belly dance, that swaying, swishing Middle Eastern import, which has been part of the Fremont Fair since the event began 35 years ago.

"We had maybe five people, but it got bigger and bigger, especially in the last three or four years," said Billion Belly March organizer Delilah Flynn. "This year we have close to 150." Read More
